The Peninsula Seahawk cheerleaders are the 5th best small varsity cheer team in the state of Washington. The Seahawk Cheerleaders participated in the WIAA State Cheerleading Championships this past Saturday, March 22 at Bellevue Community College. After earning a qualifying score at the WIAA Salute to Spirit competition in January the Seahawks took the comments from the judges and made the changes to their routine that would hopefully bring about higher scores. Divisions are broken down by size, with small varsity being 12 members or less. There were a total of 14 teams in the small varsity division with Peninsula being one of them. The team had a large group of fan support between students and family members and as the team was announced our fans stood up and made their presence and support of the team known. The team performed like flawless diamonds and came off the floor having given it their all. Excitement was high during the parade of seniors which is just before awards. The team knew they had done their best and it was now in the hands of the judges. The Seahawks will perform their routine one more time at the next assembly on April 11th, so if you would like to see a “diamond” performance come check it out. Next up for the cheerleaders is the Daffodil Parade with the band and try-outs will start May 1.
