Mr. Hoekstra resurrected the defunct PHS trap club in 2000. For eight years, students have been enjoying their target shooting at the Gig Harbor firing range. Students may join the club and shoot at the range on Thursday evenings if they hold a valid hunter safety card. Mr. Hoekstra said, “I enjoy the trap club because I get to see the kids in a different light, and they get to see me in a different light.” Mr. Hoekstra loves to shoot and so do some of our students. Sharp shooter, Lisa Egan consistently shoots the highest scores of the club at the range. Sara Grier and Jeremy Geer are also active members of the club; all three have mothers who help out the club at the range.
