Peninsula High School is beginning a new Advisory Program this year.

Advisory aims to help students make clear, careful and creative plans for life beyond high school, and:

  • Equalize opportunity so that ALL students have meaningful choices for life after high school.
  • Encourage student engagement by ensuring that every student has at least one adult at school that knows and cares about him or her.
  • Enhance student achievement by helping students evaluate and then reflect on their skills, interests, and accomplishments; take more challenging courses; and understand the relationship between school and life after graduation.

All students are assigned to the same grade level advisory and teacher for the duration of their high school career.  Students will keep a portfolio that will be used through their senior year.  Seniors will present their graduation-required, culminating project in the spring of their senior year.  The advisory period is a pass/fail class with .25 credit earned each year.  Advisories meet on Fridays from 10:15-10:45.

Peninsula High School is a school with continuous learning as its focus, where students and staff feel valued and respected.  We are a school that values positive relationships, with a focus on the recognition and celebration of each other’s accomplishments.  PHS is a welcoming place where everyone is valued and respected for who they are.
