We are excited about the upcoming school year. We are very proud of our school and our students and appreciate the continuous support the community provides.
Coming off year one of the school improvement process, we have analyzed data and come up with some changes that we believe will have a positive impact on student learning. We will be running a brand new bell schedule this year that increases the number of minutes of instructional time as well as allowing teachers to see students in their classes more days in the week. This schedule also includes an early release for students every Monday at 1:30, which will allow teachers to collaborate on instructional techniques for an hour a week.
All freshmen in 2007-2008 will be in the freshman academy where they will work with a team of teachers in English, math, social studies and science. We have a focus on the transition from 8th grade to 9th grade and the success of those students as they enter high school and work towards graduation. We will also be implementing an advisory program for all students with a focus on academic planning, culminating their senior year with the senior portfolio presentation.
Our school’s theme of “Be Part of It” encourages staff, students, parents and the community to be involved in Peninsula High School and the success of our students. It is a great time to be a Seahawk!
